More about Steve


Having worked in the restaurant business during high school, Steve Pickford developed a passion for the hospitality business early in life and attended Bryant University, graduating with a Major in Business Administration and a Minor in Hotel/Restaurant Institutional management. Steve began his career with positions at leading hotels, including Marriott and Sheraton. In 1990, he joined The Wayside Inn as Executive Chef, giving him deep experience with our food service operations. In 2003, Steve left the Inn to pursue management roles in the food and beverage industry, acquiring extensive managerial and operational experience, and in 2013, he was invited to rejoin the Inn to become our 11th Innkeeper and General Manager. Steve is responsible for overall day-to-day operations and care of the entire Wayside Inn property, which consists of nine historic structures and over 100 acres, most important, management of our flagship Longfellow’s Wayside Inn operations.
