The Wayside Inn Seeks a Scholar to Research Its 17th-Century Indigenous History

Sudbury, MA – September 28, 2021 The Wayside Inn Foundation seeks a Scholar-in-Residence to research and report on the 17th century Indigenous history of The Wayside Inn Historic Site. This work will be part of The Foundation’s broader Diverse Programming Initiative to engage BIPOC scholars to uncover stories that tell a more inclusive and complete history of The Wayside Inn. “We currently do not have many documents from this time period in our Archive,” said Education Coordinator Katina Fontes. “ The Scholar-in-Residence will gather and analyze source data and present findings during a public program in early 2022. This work will require extensive expertise and knowledge in 17th century local and Indigenous history and experience locating and analyzing primary source documents. The successful candidate will receive a stipend to cover a period of three to four months of research. Resumes are being collected through the end of October.
