TWIF Receives 25th Anniversary Grant from the Foundation for MetroWest

April 28, 2020
Sudbury, MA -- The Wayside Inn Foundation (TWIF) recently received a $5,000 grant through the Foundation for MetroWest’s 25th Anniversary Grant Program, sponsored by MathWorks! “We are so grateful to the Foundation for MetroWest and Mathworks for these funds, which came at a time when we really needed some assistance due to impacts of COVID-19, which resulted in lost revenue from canceled educational programs, events, and prolonged restrictions on restaurant operations,” said Sally Purrington Hild, Nonprofit Director of The Wayside Inn Foundation. TWIF originally applied for a grant to create an interpretive kiosk and to paint the waterwheel at The Wayside Inn Grist Mill, a project that would support TWIF’s educational mission and help preserve the wheelworks. Applications were submitted via video in February and the community was set to vote for the winners of the grant funds right around the time that COVID-19 hit the state hard. “It was a creative way to apply. We had a good time putting together a video. For now, however, the project at the Grist Mill is on hold while we assess what this pandemic will mean for visitation to our buildings,” said Hild. “Though we are unsure what will happen with the project, we want to say congratulations to the Foundation for MetroWest for 25 years of phenomenal work helping people in the MetroWest area.” In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foundation for MetroWest’s program was accelerated to provide immediate assistance to all 57 eligible applicants. TWIF’s video application and all of the videos submitted by nonprofits in the MetroWest area that are doing amazing and varied work can be found at https://foundationmw.org/25thgrant/.
