September 9, 2019 --Sudbury, Ma -- The Wayside Foundation,
the non-profit organization responsible for the preservation of
The Wayside Inn Historic Site, announced todaythat it has entered
into an arrangement with Bark & Blossoms of Sudbury to operate a new
plant and flower standat the barn across from Longfellow’s Wayside Inn.
Bark & Blossoms owner Lisa Forsberg operated a plant and flower business
at Stone Tavern Farm on Route 20 in Sudbury for 15 years,
until she was forced to relocate to Fairbanks Farm on
Route 27 this past spring due to the potential redevelopment
of the Stone Tavern property. Forsberg’s operation at The Wayside Inn Barn
will be her second location in Sudbury and will be open daily until dusk
through mid-December.
“When we learned that Lisa was looking for a new location,
we talked with her about the possibility of setting up a plant stand
somewhere on our property, and the barn was the obvious location,”
said Steve Pickford, Innkeeper of Longfellow’s Wayside Inn.
“We are thrilled to have her operating at our barn and love the
color and activity that her business brings to the property.
She has a great eye and her ‘country chic’
aesthetic is a perfect fit for our historic location,” added Pickford.
Forsberg sources all her plants and flowers from local growers.
“We are just finishing setting upand it’s looking better than any
of us expected,” said Forsberg.“We’ll be selling seasonal flowers
and plants, wreaths, and décor items for the home, and of course,
mums, pumpkins and gourds for fall, and holiday greens
and wreaths closer to Christmas. I’m so happy to be part of this
special place, ” said Forsberg.
“This is one of many other initiatives we are taking here to
increase activity on our property and broaden our visibility in the
community,” added Pickford. “It’s a win-win for both of us.
Lisa’s business will represent us well,
and we know our customers will be excited to have
her products available during their visits with us,” said Pickford.
The Wayside Inn Foundation is a Massachusetts 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization formed in 1944 to preserve and operate

oldest operating inn in the United States. The organization, led
