James Baker, historian and former Director of the Alden House in Duxbury, MA will discuss the Miles Standish legend, its earlier manifestations, the best-seller status of the poem, and how the poem influenced the romantic representation of the Pilgrim Story from 1859, when the first illustrated editions appeared, through the 1950s.
